Callington Show

There was a slight breeze blowing when leaving the Clubrooms on Sunday October 29 at 9 am but by the time we arrived at Callington it was more like a gale. We commandeered the bigger shelter shed this year, thank goodness, as there was no way we could sit out around the cars.

As the day progressed so did the wind and by lunchtime the stallholders were having to hold onto the roofs of their stalls while trying to serve customers. To make matters worse, there was a ‘Monster’ truck taking passengers for joy rides driving around the side of the oval, so by the end of the day all the cars and utes etc were covered in a layer of dust.

Our club participated in the ‘Callington Trail’ again, but this year we had boxes of apples to give away instead of smelly fertilizer.

By around 2 pm a lot of the stallholders had packed up, as although the wind had swung around and it was cooler it didn’t help with the problem of dust.

All in all, it wasn’t a good day for Callington after all the preparation that went into presenting a great show, but the weather didn’t seem to deter the public as there was still quite a crowd there.

It wasn’t great but we’ll be back next year, all things being equal, hoping for better weather.
