Meningie Dairies

Leave Clubrooms 9am sharp 180 kms approx. all sealed roads

10.00 am  arrive Pt Malcolm Lighthouse (only inland lighthouse in Australia)

Can park at ferry landing and walk to light ,watch out for snakes!

Cross on Narrung  ferry to Jetty area   – morning tea

11.30 am    Proceed to Raukkan indigenous settlement.

       Park around lawned areas in front of Church (featured on Australian $50 banknotes)

        Presentation of history & current development by officers of Ngarrindgeri Council

        Possible walking tours & inspections

         Lunch  –  Store is planned to be open for coffee etc.

1.30 pm    Depart for Fischers Dairy   Campbell House

              * optional detour approx. 20 mins to old Narrung Station Homestead area on western side of

                   Lake Albert (4 kms good unsealed road)

2.00 pm Dairy visit    -milking session  – 3 milkings per day from herd of 600 cows-narration by Brad Fischer

 

4.00 pm      Depart Campbell House via Meningie for home

              *optional detour (approx. 20 mins) to Coorong via Seven Mile Road, ½ way between Campbell House &

                  Meningie -4 kms good unsealed road.

                The more adventurous can continue S/east along the Coorong on Seven Mile Rd to Noonameena & rejoin

                  The Princes Hwy about 10 kms south of Meningie
