Callington Show 26/10/2025

On a calm cool morning the Jaguar and I left Strathalbyn about 7.30am and headed into Murray Bridge arriving at the Truck Memorial Stop on Adelaide Road Murray Bridge to meet up with members keen to spend a relaxing day out at the Callington Show. There were 8 vehicles and 12 members all signed in, leaving Murray Bridge at 8.45am sharp. Turning onto the Old Princes Highway towards Callington and just before reaching our destination a problem with Peter Sellick’s vehicle had club members helping hands sorting the problem in no time with all vehicles arriving safely on the bottom oval to set up cars and flags. However, the wind had picked up by 10am and continued to get stronger as the day went on. Fortunately, the weather remained sunny and warm throughout the day which allowed many visitors and young families to get about watching all the events happening on the ovals as well as the pavilions and stalls. For many years our club have participated in the Calli Trail, signing off on entry forms and handing over donated goods supplied by their sponsors and we are privileged to be able to do this in the shelter shed overlooking the bottom oval which was much appreciated on such a windy day. As the day progressed with our members coming and going to take in the attractions or just sitting around watching the events all made for a good day to catch up with friends Just after 3.30pm we all decided it was time to pack up the flags, tidy up the shed say our goodbye and head for home. Congratulations to the Callington Show Committee and their many helpers for again putting on an Outstanding Country Show that attracts so many visitors each year through all kinds of weather. My appreciation to all club members who attended on the day thank you.
