Hindmarsh Island Run

What a perfect day for a car run, sun shining, blue skies and the scenery on the way to Hindmarsh Island was beautiful.  On May 17 we had 23 cars and 51 people leave the Clubrooms, no car breakdowns so what more could we ask for. Well! We prayed for no rain, and got just what we asked for, so somebody up there does really listen. Or perhaps Howard is no longer “The Rainmaker”  DSCN0459

We stopped for morning tea at one of the Clubs favourite places, Milang.  We set up chairs, tables and out came the cakes and coffee. We stayed for almost an hour just chatting and enjoying each other’s company.

Then off to Hindmarsh Island. We visited a private home with its own airstrip and big hangars. Howard was slightly green with envy. We met our Hosts Barry & Joy Hills and their friendly dog “Tiger”. After an interesting talk about “Tiger Moths” from Barry, it was lunch time. Whilst we were eating lunch 2 “Tiger Moths put on an air display that was incredible. The whole day was perfect, the sun kept shining and it was warm so what more could we ask for.  A round of well earned applause was given to Samuel Mach, the eldest son of Peter & Yvonne Mach on going solo after only 8 hours of flying tuition. This is a credit to Samuel, well done and keep up the good work.

After leaving Hindmarsh Island 14 members visited the old Finnis Post Office Café for afternoon tea . So once again good company a few laughs and then home to put the Jaguar away after a good run and wait for the next outing.

We would like to thank all those members that came along for the day and made it a success.

Remember, if anyone has a run in mind see Howard who is only too willing to help you with the planning. The aim of the Car Club is to use our cars, remember “Don’t hide them drive them”
