Indoor Bowls Night 27/9/2025

On a mild spring night, 14 Auto Collectors Club members, together with 8 members from the Indoor Bowls Association assembled in the Uniting Church Hall. After both groups introduced themselves to each other, Neville Rawlins from the Indoor Bowls Association gave a brief outline on the game and techniques of Indoor Bowls.

Car Club members then formed into groups of two players, enthusiastically selected themselves an Indoor Bowls mat and proceeded to try out their skills with their newly acquired information, capably assisted by the Indoor Bowls members. Once they had demonstrated a reasonable ability and understanding of the game, participants were grouped into four players, including at least one Indoor Bowls Association player and proceeded to play 3 ends, followed by regrouping and a further 3 ends. Lots of laughter and enjoyment radiated around the hall during these ends.

Following completion of these mini matches, to challenge the players and their skills, all Car Club members proceeded to bowl 3 balls towards the opposite end of the mat towards the kitty endeavouring to get as close as possible to the kitty. Hosts of the evening, Peter and Yvonne measured the distance between the balls and kitty for all members. A small gift was awarded to Kerry Wilson for having her bowl touching kitty and to Liz Minge for being 10cm away from kitty. Val Wade and Graham Edwards were also awarded small gifts for having their bowl the furthest away from kitty.

With the mats and bowls packed up and tables adorned with plates of supper, everyone enjoyed the rest of the evening chatting and socialising over supper and a cuppa, before departing for home. Peter and Yvonne hope that all enjoyed their social evening of Indoor Bowls and thank you for coming to the event.
