Swan Reach Run 23/11/2025

On Sunday 23rd November 2025 we had a run to Swan Reach for a Barbecue and to look at the Museum and Car Gallery.

We met at the Railway Station Car park at 9:45a.m. and left at 10:00a.m. sharp. We had a mixture of old and new cars totalling 15 Vehicles. The newest being mine, a 2025 Mercedes GLAe (Hybrid) and the oldest being Noel Jackson’s Truck. I know it was old as I couldn’t get past him on the way home. 50KPH in a 110KPH zone. That was OK as I got to look at the countryside that hasn’t changed in 50 plus years except the roads are now sealed.

Nice cars, a V8 Merc, XR8 Falcon, 61 Ford Zephyr, 66 VW, 2000 SLK Merc, Chev Corvette, EH Holden, Humber Hawke, Old Nissan, old Ford Ute, and late models Kia, Ford Everest and whatever it was that John Courtney was driving as I can’t read his writing.

We were late getting to the Museum but that was OK as no one had opened it. I rang the number on the locked door and was told no one told us to open. I tried ringing Rocky Warren and he wasn’t answering so I was starting to panic. We decided to go down the road to the Motor Gallery and members of their car club were there. Rocky rolled up with a bandaged finger, which is why he wasn’t answering his phone.

The owner John George had a few words of welcome, and we moved into their covered area with ample tables and chairs. Had a look at their impressive car display including am E Type Jag, MG’s, an Austin Healey and several other old sport cars and vehicles.

Liz and I then extracted $15.00 from each member of our party (33) and then enjoyed a barbecue put on by the local car club. Sausages, Meat on a stick, steak and salad were supplied with seconds available if required.

Our Hosts did a really great job and mixed well with our members. I even reminisced with John George about our early insurance days. He is still the chairman of the MGA board, unlike me who thought about getting a job last year but sat down until the feeling past.

I think we had a great social day and look forward to our next run.
