Swan Reach Mid-Week Run

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE – NOT THE 24TH JUNE
Wednesday June 20th – Depart Johnstone Park Clubrooms at 9:00am.
Travel via Mannum to Walker Flat where we will stop at Walker Flat Ferry Shop Carpark, for morning tea/toilet break. (Public toilets across road).
After that rest stop, vehicles can cross the river by ferry (limited numbers each crossing and subject to other general public vehicle numbers).
Depart ferry and drive to top of river cliff and turn right into Lookout Carpark to reassemble.
Once our group is all present and accounted for, we will drive to Swan Reach.
On arrival we will visit Peter Detloff’s property (168 Stott Highway), to view his John Deere tractor collection/vehicles.
We will then drive into Swan Reach to the Classic Car Gallery.
Please reverse park your vehicles along the road in front of the Gallery for the purpose of a photo shoot.
We will have a tour of the Gallery, followed by lunch hosted by the Murray Mallee Auto Club, (3 course lunch of soup, BBQ and dessert) in an undercover area adjacent to the Gallery. Please BYO chairs and drinks.
The total cost is $20:00 per person, which includes entrance to the Gallery and lunch.
Other Swan Reach attractions include a Craft Shop next door to the Gallery and an “Op Shop” in the main street.
The Swan Reach Museum (old school building) is located approximately 400 metres south of the Car Gallery, towards Walker Flat (gold coin donation entry).
Please feel free to check out these options after completing the lunch/Car Gallery tour.
Once you have exhausted either yourself or visited all sites on offer, feel free to head back to Murray Bridge. The shortest route home is to retrace our route to Walker Flat, but do not cross the river by ferry. Continue on past Purnong until arriving at Bowhill. Turn left towards Murray Bridge at the crossroads.
Total distance for the run is approximately 200kms.
