Once again our club participated in the annual Murray Bridge Christmas Parade. The procession commenced at 4.00pm from the Pine Park/Council Chambers assembly area and meandered via West Terrace, Bridge St, Seventh St and Mary Terrace to Sturt Reserve.
Food stalls, rides and other Christmas festivities had commenced at Sturt Reserve on Friday evening and continued through Saturday culminating in the pageant arrival and continuing entertainment into the evening.
The five vehicles representing our club were Harry Howitt & Shirley Sellick in their Volkswagen, Jan Hall & Brenda Cowie in Jan’s Morris Minor, Jeff & Aileen Martin in their Holden Premier, Graham & Maureen Edwards in their Ford Zephyr, and Peter & Yvonne Mach in their Packard.
The thousands of spectators who lined the streets of the parade route were all happy, particularly the many young children who gained a front position along the roadside in anticipation of scoring a lolly or two thrown from the passing parade participants.
Thanks to Graham our ACCMB vehicles were adorned with a Christmas banner; and thank you to Jan who stepped up as the co-ordinator of our group in my absence. I also heard a rumour that Jan is considering a career as an Uber driver and did a practise run ferrying some passengers to Sturt Reserve! Well done Jan!
To those club members who participated in this event, thank you for preparing and decorating your cars and representing your club.
