Wellington Strawberry Fete

In bright and sunny conditions on 2nd October  28 Auto Collectors Club of Murray Bridge (ACCMB) members met at their clubrooms to welcome each other and to receive a welcome along with last minute instructions from run organizers, Lyn and Tom West , the club’s joint magazine editors.

With the venue for the days run being the annual Wellington strawberry fete at the community hall complex, 13 shining vehicles set off to Wellington via Jervois, Flagstaff, Langhorne Creek to Wellington Roads prior to reaching their final destination.

Fete organizers helped ACCMB members position their vehicles around the tennis court area to form such a varied display of vehicles with no two vehicles of the same model.

New members to publicly display their vehicles for the first time were, Jan Hall – 1952 Morris Minor. Steven and Leanne Maxwell – 1971 VH Valiant Charger and Barry Conrad and Rose Brass in their 1975 Cadillac.

During the day ACCMB members were kept busy in between the odd plate of delicious strawberries and ice cream, answering the many favorable comments and questions relating to their individual vehicles models and specifications.

Sheep shearing demonstrations during the day had ACCMB members, Graham and Maureen Edwards grandchildren, Tyler and Oakley totally intrigued , with each being given a piece of freshly shorn wool by the shearer to take home to mum and dad.

With members all shopped and strawberried out, club President, John Courtney thanked Wellington, run organizers and members for their attendance before packing up for the day and leaving for home.
