X-Mas 2019
My, where has the 2019 Auto Collectors Club of Murray Bridge (ACCMB) year gone?
As one member put it to me the other day, “we can’t have Christmas yet, because I haven’t paid for 2018 yet”. How true.
With all that has happened in the clubs 2019 year, it was time on Sunday 8th December for members old and new to celebrate together the end of another busy year with the clubs annual Christmas party, this year in the Palmer community hall.
Some of the Committee members left Murray Bridge in very warm conditions early to set up the hall, with many of the 53 members and quests in their assortment of 38 classic and modern vehicles arriving for morning tea at about 10-30am.
With the stage decorated for the occasion with an ornament laden Christmas tree, complete with lights and tinsel, tables decorated with bright red tablecloths to give the hall a “Christmassy” look.
ACCMB members took their places at the tables, while enjoying the coolness of the hall, compared with the warm outdoor temperature, settled in for a chat and a laugh or two while enjoying a “cuppa and biscuits”.
Emcee for the day, Life Member John Courtney opened the party by welcoming all present, while Life Member Brenda Cowie and her team were busy in the kitchen preparing for Christmas lunch and afternoon tea.
As the clock ticked over 12 noon, it was time to “feed the multitude”, and table by table, members filed past the food tables selecting their food from the magnificent array of meat and salads fit for a “King and Queen” to partake of.
Following lunch, Emcee John, had members and quests laughing at his selection of jokes, before handing over to ACCMB Run Coordinator Jan Hall who organized the days raffle and prizes to officiate over the drawing of the raffles.
Some of the lucky winners included guest Janet Henningsen, and ACCMB members Trevor Wehrman and Trevor Kitto, just to name a few.
At this point afternoon tea was the next agenda item for the day and again not to disappoint the hungry, the choice of deserts and sweets supplied by lady members were delicious to say the least, with members commenting “that there would be no tea tonight after this”
With the party nearing completion, Emcee John gave an appreciation to all who attended and helped in any way to make the party another success in the life and times of the ACCMB, before wishing all present a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Prosperous New Year.
