Mal Fountain Run

We met at Johnstone Park on Sunday November 26, the cooler weather was a welcome relief of the past week.  We all enjoyed a chat then at 9.30 we headed for Tailem Bend.

First stop the Tailem Bend Community Centre (TBCC).  Established in 1987, TBCC is an independent organisation that supports the diverse needs of Tailem Bend and the surrounding community. The TBCC hold over 25 Classes per week (i.e. exercise, sewing, IT, craft, woodworking, mosaics, leadlight etc). We enjoyed a delicious morning tea of Scones jam and cream. Afterwards we enjoyed a tour of the well equipped kitchen’s facilities and workshops. This complex has benefited from a lot of grants, it is a credit to the dedicated volunteers.

Second Stop Tour of the ‘Tin Elephant’, we enjoyed a tour of the Many second hand wares including car parts and memorabilia for sale, well worth a look!!.

Third stop newly opened Uneek Animals display, consisting of tin versions of the Coorong district’s wildlife, was officially opened on Friday, November 10 2017, we all enjoyed a look and took photos of the 47 tin items.

Final destination we all headed off to Fred’s landing arriving to find a nice parking spot. This picturesque spot is sheltered by the cliffs, a true hidden gem. The sky was looking a bit grey, a quick check of the radars (on the phone) indicated no rain. A BBQ lunch was cooked while participants enjoyed the spot. We then had a short quiz to decide the winner of the perpetual trophy, the winner will be announced at the presentation dinner, after the quiz was finished a few rain spots appeared and we packed up and proceeded home at our leisure.
