Patron’s Run

21 cars left the Clubrooms on time at 9:30 a.m. sharp and travelled down the Old Princes Highway to Callington, where we met up with Colin and Raelene Wegener.  We then continued on to Strathalbyn and into Rankine Street, where Ben Finniss’ yard is situated – and not a parking spot in sight!  We managed to squeeze a dozen cars into his yard and the rest had to find parks wherever they could.  Ben said that the locals must have heard that we were coming and tried to keep us out!

Ben has a wonderful collection of older and modern classics, the oldest being a 1934 Morris 10 Sports.  Ben had tea, coffee and biscuits ready for us.  After admiring the 45 cars on display, we then moved on to the Milang Road and into the Pier Hotel for lunch.

The lunch was very generous and there was a good variety to choose from, with tea and coffee to wash it down.

Thanks go to all who attended and made it a great day.  Thanks, also, to Terry and June Mabbitt for being “Tail-End Charlie”.  Happily, there were no incidents to report, but we did hear that Colin and Raelene Wegener clocked up a very respectable 100,000 miles in their 1962 EK Holden during the Run.  Quite an achievement!

Thank you for Report Bob and Lyn Hunter.
