Wellington Courthouse Run

9 July 2014

It would seem that whenever we plan a Run, it rains. Well, we were not disappointed – it poured! However, this did not dampen the enthusiasm of the members who turned up at our home for morning tea. We were a bit “cosy”, as we had 51 people join us. We had decided that having the morning ‘smoko’ at our place saved us from worrying about the weather.

It was then off to the Wellington Courthouse for lunch. Before lunch, we had a re-enactment of a court case as per Jill Matschoss and Myra. We hope that everyone enjoyed this as much as these two “producers” did whilst putting the whole thing together. Our thanks go to the two “prisoners”, Tom West and Graham Edwards. These two gentlemen(!) had no idea that they were going to be involved, but joined in with gusto and received plenty of laughs from the public in the Courtroom. John Courtney gave an excellent character reference for Graham (remind me never to ask John for a reference). Thank you to Lyn West for taking the roll of “Clerk of the Court”. We would also like to thank those ladies who helped Myra in the kitchen at home and also those who supplied extra scones, biscuits, etc.

Jenny, one of the owners of the Courthouse, kept the food coming with the help of three extra staff. It took some organizing to get 50+ meals ready and delivered. We can recommend the Wellington Courthouse for light meals. We believe that they also do evening meals for different occasions, so keep them in mind. It is a great place for coffee and cake on a Sunday afternoon.
